Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about renting and listing on LakeChelanStays.

What is LakeChelanStays?+
LakeChelanStays is a free community marketplace for Wapato Point Resort rentals. Timeshare owners list condo weeks, and owners of houses in the residential neighborhoods list whole vacation homes. Renters find listings and contact owners directly. We don't handle bookings or payments; we simply connect owners and renters.
What is a 'rental week'?+
Wapato Point is a timeshare resort, meaning owners purchase the right to use a specific condo unit for one week per year. Owners who can't use their week can rent it to someone else. A rental week includes the full unit: all bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and resort access, for seven nights.
What's the difference between a condo week and a vacation home?+
Condo weeks are timeshare units in the five villages, rented by the full week (seven nights) on the village's fixed check-in schedule; browse them on the condos page. Vacation homes are whole privately-owned houses in the residential neighborhoods (Halmalka, Ponderosa, The Point at Wapato, and Yacinde), rented by the night with owner-set availability and rates; browse them in the homes section.
Why do check-in days vary by village?+
Each village at Wapato Point has its own fixed check-in day: Beach checks in on Thursdays, Lodge and Nekquelekin on Fridays, and Lakeside and Tennis on Sundays. This is determined by the resort and applies to all units in that village. You can see the check-in and check-out times for each village on the villages page.
Is LakeChelanStays affiliated with Wapato Point?+
No. We are an independent community project, not affiliated with Wapato Point Management Company (WPMC), Point Forward Hospitality, or any resort management entity. We exist to help the Wapato Point owner community connect with renters.
Do you verify that owners actually own what they list?+
No. We confirm a real email address via verification, but we do not verify ownership. For a condo week, call the village management company to confirm the owner holds it before paying. A private home has no resort management to check with, so verify the owner's identity and pay only with a method that has buyer protection. See our safety guide for details.
How much does it cost to list?+
Posting a condo week is completely free. Vacation home listings are also free during our launch period; a listing fee may be introduced for homes later. We never charge renters anything.
How long does a listing stay active?+
Condo-week listings are active for 60 days from verification, or until the rental week ends, whichever comes first; seven days before expiry we email you a one-click link to extend by another 60 days. Home listings stay live indefinitely, since a house isn't tied to a single week. Every 90 days we email home owners a one-click 'still current?' check, and listings that don't respond are paused automatically (you can reactivate anytime).
How do vacation home listings work?+
When you list a home, you add photos, amenities, and one or more availability windows, each with its own nightly rate and minimum stay. Renters send an inquiry with their dates, and you arrange the rest directly. From your private management link you can edit details, add or remove photos, update your calendar, pause the listing, or remove it.
Can I edit my listing after posting?+
Yes. When your listing goes live, you'll receive an email with a private management link. Use that link to edit details, extend or pause your listing, or remove it. No account or password required. Lost it? Have it re-sent to your listing email from the find your management link page.
What happens if I rent my week?+
Click 'Mark as rented' from your management link. This hides your listing from browse immediately. You can still access your management page at any time.
Can I list multiple weeks?+
Yes. Each week is a separate listing. Submit the form once for each week you want to list. Each listing gets its own management link.
What if the listing is inaccurate or suspicious?+
Use the 'Report listing' link on any listing page. Our team reviews reports and removes listings that appear fraudulent or that violate our terms.
What villages are included?+
Condo weeks cover the five timeshare villages at Wapato Point: Beach, Lakeside, Tennis, Lodge, and Nekquelekin (see the villages page). Whole-ownership houses in the residential neighborhoods (Halmalka, Ponderosa, The Point at Wapato, and Yacinde) are listed in our vacation homes section.
